According to CCTV News, on March 27, the 23rd session of the Standing Committee of the 16th Beijing Municipal People's Congress approved new regulations on drones, which will officially come into force on May 1, 2026. These regulations designate the entire administrative region of Beijing as controlled airspace for unmanned aircraft systems (UAS), meaning all outdoor drone flights require prior application and approval. Additionally, the regulations establish strict rules for the production, sale, transportation, and use of drones:
Furthermore, the construction of new storage facilities for drones and their core components is banned citywide, with a specific prohibition on establishing such facilities within the Sixth Ring Road (inclusive). Any storage facilities located outside the Sixth Ring Road must adhere to safety regulations and pass relevant safety assessments.
Owners of existing drones are required to complete information verification within the designated timeframe. In the event of loss or damage, owners must promptly cancel the registration of their drones.
