On April 27, 2026, Microsoft and OpenAI unveiled an updated version of their partnership agreement, aiming to refine and optimize their collaborative efforts. Under the terms of the revised agreement, Microsoft's licensing arrangement with OpenAI will transition from an exclusive to a non-exclusive basis. Concurrently, Microsoft will discontinue its practice of paying revenue shares to OpenAI. Nevertheless, OpenAI's obligation to pay revenue shares to Microsoft will persist until 2030.
