On the evening of April 27, Beijing time, Microsoft and OpenAI jointly declared that their partnership had transitioned into a fresh phase. Under the new agreement, Microsoft's intellectual property license for OpenAI's models and products is now non-exclusive, extending until 2032, and it will no longer involve any further revenue-sharing payments. Conversely, OpenAI will persist in paying revenue shares to Microsoft until 2030, with the share proportion unchanged, albeit with a cap imposed on the total payout amount. Microsoft will retain its position as OpenAI's primary cloud partner, with OpenAI products receiving priority for release on Azure. However, these products will also be accessible through other cloud service providers, reflecting a more flexible approach to distribution.
