Amazon to Pour an Extra $5 Billion into Anthropic

On April 20 (local time), Amazon made an announcement regarding the expansion of its strategic partnership with the artificial intelligence firm Anthropic. The tech giant is immediately injecting an additional investment of $5 billion, and the overall scale of future investments could soar up to a staggering $20 billion. In return for this substantial financial support, Anthropic has pledged to invest over $100 billion in Amazon Web Services (AWS) and chips during the next ten years. This commitment includes procuring both the current and upcoming generations of Trainium chips, along with tens of millions of Graviton cores. Additionally, Anthropic will secure computing capacity of up to 5 gigawatts to train and operate its AI models.
