QianWen 3.5 Claims Top Position on Hugging Face, China Dominates with 8 Out of Top 10 Open-Source Models

On February 24th, Hugging Face, the world's preeminent AI open-source community, released its most recent ranking of open-source large-scale models. Alibaba's proprietary multimodal model, QianWen 3.5, which was made open-source on Chinese New Year's Eve, secured the number one position globally. Boasting a total of 397 billion parameters, with only 17 billion activated, its performance is on par with that of Gemini 3. Moreover, its token cost is merely around 5% of Gemini 3's. Among the top 10 models featured in the ranking, eight hail from Chinese teams, including renowned institutions such as Alibaba and Zhipu.
