Recently, Meta found itself embroiled in a fresh legal battle. On Friday, plaintiff Ollywan Limited lodged a complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, San Jose Division. The crux of the lawsuit is the allegation that Meta's business plan for Instagram Shopping was plagiarized from Ollywan's now-defunct tech startup. In the legal filing, it is asserted that Meta took advantage of its overwhelming dominance in the social networking realm to stifle Ollywan's Winstag app. This app, unfortunately, had to cease its operations in 2023.
