On Monday, Anthropic made a significant announcement regarding the release of its latest artificial intelligence model, Claude Sonnet 4.5. This cutting-edge model is now accessible to all users. It shines particularly brightly in the realm of programming and addressing business requirements, especially within professional settings. According to industry-standard benchmark tests, it has earned the accolade of being the 'world's top programming model.' Claude Sonnet 4.5 stands out for its ability to generate superior-quality code, its enhanced proficiency in pinpointing areas for code optimization, and its increased reliability in adhering to instructions.
Previously, Anthropic had introduced Claude Opus 4.1 and Claude Sonnet 4. Now, Claude Sonnet 4.5 is set to become the default model. Paid subscribers will retain the flexibility to opt for the Opus model, while users with specific workflows will also have the choice to stick with the older Sonnet model.
Despite being smaller in scale compared to Claude Opus 4.1, Claude Sonnet 4.5 boasts greater intelligence. It is capable of autonomous operation for up to 30 hours, exhibiting improved behavioral performance and a stronger defense against 'prompt injection attacks.' Looking ahead, Anthropic has ambitious plans to roll out more innovative models. By the end of this year, the company anticipates launching one to two additional models.
