Recently, Musk took to the social platform X to declare that Tesla has ceased accepting custom orders for the Model S and Model X. Globally, there are only around 600 inventory vehicles left, with nearly all of them situated in the United States. Since their initial releases in 2012 and 2015 respectively, these two models have achieved a cumulative total of over 610,000 deliveries. Nevertheless, their sales have experienced a downturn in recent years. In 2025, their combined sales accounted for less than 4% of Tesla's overall sales. In a bid to pay tribute to these two models, Tesla is planning to host an official ceremony. At present, Tesla's official website has made a switch. The custom order page has been replaced by an inventory display page. All the inventory vehicles come with the perk of free DC fast charging at Tesla Superchargers, as well as lifetime free access to premium connectivity services. Additionally, Musk revealed that the original production line for the Model S/X at the Fremont factory in California will be reconfigured to manufacture the Optimus humanoid robot.
