Recently, in the vicinity of Mueller Lake Park in Austin, Texas, an Avride test vehicle operating in autonomous mode struck and killed a famous local duck, known affectionately as a 'celebrity duck', without halting, igniting widespread concern and discontent among the community. Eyewitnesses reported that the vehicle did not reduce its speed prior to the collision and reportedly disregarded stop signs. In response, Avride announced that it has initiated an internal investigation and temporarily ceased testing activities on certain road segments surrounding Mueller Lake. The company underscored that the vehicle's design adheres to regulatory standards and is currently exploring technical enhancements to avert such incidents in the future. At present, other companies in Austin are also engaged in autonomous driving tests or commercial deployments.
