According to preliminary data from the Worldwide Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker released by the International Data Corporation (IDC), global smartphone shipments reached 277.5 million units in the second quarter of 2026, representing a year-on-year decrease of 6.7% and marking a decline for two consecutive quarters. The memory crisis has led to a significant increase in costs and supply constraints. In terms of manufacturer rankings, Samsung, Apple, and Xiaomi ranked in the top three, with Samsung and Apple experiencing year-on-year growth in shipments, and their market shares expanding by 3.2 and 3.8 percentage points, respectively. Manufacturers relying on low-end models, however, were hit harder.
