On July 14, industry data showed that Samsung Electronics surpassed Apple in the second quarter to reclaim the top spot in the global smartphone market. According to data from market research firm Counterpoint Research, from April to June, Samsung accounted for 24% of global smartphone shipments, while Apple ranked second with a 20% share. In the first quarter, Apple had led with a 21% market share compared to Samsung's 20%.
