Sources within the supply chain indicate that Apple’s inaugural foldable smartphone is slated for a September release this year, potentially carrying the moniker iPhone Ultra. Recently, leaked images of a white mockup of the device have emerged online. This gadget boasts a horizontally oriented, book-like inward folding mechanism. When fully extended, it measures roughly 4.5 millimeters in thickness, swelling to about 9.2 millimeters when folded shut. The external display spans 5.5 inches, whereas the internal display is a 7.8-inch OLED panel with a 4:3 aspect ratio, supporting an adaptive refresh rate ranging from 1 to 120Hz LTPO. Regarding its core hardware, the device is powered by an A20 Pro chip fabricated on TSMC’s cutting-edge 2nm process, complemented by 12GB of RAM. Apple has escalated its production readiness target for this innovative device to approximately 10 million units, with Foxconn entrusted with the contract manufacturing duties.
