36Kr has exclusively obtained information from insiders indicating that Meizu has recently undergone a substantial restructuring. Over 50% of its workforce, equating to roughly 400 employees, are expected to depart from the company. Among these individuals, some will be entitled to 'N+2' severance compensation. The 'PANDAER' fashion brand team within Meizu will be separated and will operate as a financially independent entity. Additionally, certain members of Meizu's AR glasses team will be integrated into the AR glasses company 'Thunderbird Innovation'. Following the restructuring, Meizu's mobile phone division will retain approximately 400 staff members, who will either be incorporated into the Flyme in-car system team or redirected towards the exploration of AI software solutions. Meizu has issued a statement, emphasizing that in the future, its primary focus will be on the Flyme open ecosystem as the cornerstone for constructing a sustainable business closed loop. It is worth noting that organizational adjustments driven by strategic transformations are commonplace in the industry's evolution. Aside from halting its in-house research and development of new mobile phone hardware for the domestic market, Meizu's other business ventures are advancing steadily. This includes its overseas mobile phone operations, AI glasses smart hardware business, and the PANDAER trendy tech brand business. Meizu has also refuted the rumors concerning its alleged 'absorption by Thunderbird'.
