Microsoft has enhanced the functionality of the widgets in Windows 11 for users within the European Economic Area (EEA), ensuring they open in the default browser. This update aligns with Microsoft's commitment to adhering to the Digital Markets Act (DMA). In the latest iteration of Windows, we have observed that even if Chrome or another browser is designated as the default, it automatically assumes the default role for .htm and .html files, consequently influencing the behavior of the widget panel. To modify the default browser and ensure its application to all pertinent file types and protocols, users must adhere to specific setup instructions.
