On September 23, the G50, an F-class 50-megawatt heavy-duty gas turbine independently developed by Dongfang Electric Corporation, was shipped from the Khorgos Port to the Zhambyl Region in Kazakhstan. This shipment marks China’s first-ever export of a complete set of self-developed F-class heavy-duty gas turbines.

The three G50 units exported in this shipment utilize gas-steam combined cycle technology. This technology allows for efficient power generation while simultaneously meeting heating requirements. These units are key projects that have received approval from the local Ministry of Energy.

Dongfang Electric successfully developed the G50 over a period of 13 years, breaking through foreign technological monopolies in the process. The turbine has accumulated over 15,000 hours of operational experience. Its power generation efficiency is on par with international units of the same class, while its maintenance costs are lower.
