The artificial intelligence boom has driven computing power competition upstream along the industrial chain, with accelerated construction of large data centers bringing new opportunities for gas turbines. A few weeks ago, Microsoft purchased seven large gas turbines from energy giant GE Vernova to power its data center in Texas. Despite each turbine costing over $250 million, market demand far exceeds supply. According to estimates by U.S. investment research firm Melius Research, gas turbine prices have cumulatively risen by approximately 300% over the past three years. GE Vernova's stock price has surged by over 70% in the past six months, with industry competitors such as Caterpillar and Siemens also experiencing rapid growth.
