Qualcomm recently unveiled details of the AI processing capabilities of the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro, showcasing upgrades in AI model operational efficiency, memory access, and power consumption control through its new Hexagon NPU. The chip supports local operation of generative AI models with 13 billion parameters, delivering a 45% improvement in AI performance per watt and significant energy efficiency optimization. By leveraging FlexCache caching technology and dynamic thermal management, the chip reduces memory access latency and controls power consumption during AI inference tasks, ensuring sustained high-performance output. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro is manufactured using TSMC's 2nm process and features the Adreno 850 GPU and LPDDR6 memory, delivering substantial improvements in graphics processing and memory bandwidth. The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max will be the first smartphone globally to debut with this chip, with other Android flagship models to follow.
