TSMC has recently made public its intention to initiate legal proceedings against Luo Weiren, a former senior vice president of the company. Luo, now 75 years old, was already a key technical figure at Intel back in 1996. He became a part of the TSMC family in 2004 and was set to retire in July 2025. Initially, he had plans to assume a role at an academic institution post-retirement. However, he eventually decided to rejoin his old workplace, Intel, taking on the position of EVP (Executive Vice President). Luo Weiren has been accused of overstepping his bounds while still at TSMC and acquiring confidential data regarding TSMC's 2nm, A16, and A14 processes, sparking concerns about a potential leak of sensitive information.
