Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao participated in a video conference with Sefcovic, the Executive Vice President of the European Commission in charge of Trade and Economic Security. During the meeting, the two officials engaged in a thorough discussion on various economic and trade matters, with a particular focus on the Nexperia case. Minister Wang Wentao emphasized that the primary cause and responsibility for the disruptions in the global semiconductor supply chain rest with the Netherlands. He noted that while the Dutch authorities have temporarily halted the implementation of relevant administrative orders, the underlying intervention measures remain in place. Minister Wang expressed his hope that the European Union would encourage the Dutch side to put forward viable solutions. In response, Sefcovic expressed gratitude for China's efforts and conveyed his willingness to collaborate with China in order to de-escalate the situation. Both parties concurred that businesses are the pivotal players in resolving this issue and pledged to encourage Nexperia Netherlands and Nexperia China to enhance their communication, thereby restoring stability to the supply chain. Furthermore, the two sides also discussed topics such as export controls between the EU and China.
