Individuals with inside knowledge of the situation reveal that SoftBank Group Corp. entertained the idea of acquiring U.S. chipmaker Marvell Technology Inc. earlier in the year. Had this deal materialized, it would have marked the largest transaction in the semiconductor industry's history. A few months back, SoftBank conveyed its interest in acquiring Marvell to the company. However, the two entities couldn't come to an agreement on the specific terms. SoftBank had initially planned to merge Marvell with its British chip - design firm Arm Holdings Plc. According to some sources close to the matter, while the two sides aren't actively engaged in deal - making negotiations at present, there remains a chance that cooperation could be revived in the future.
