This July, Samsung landed a substantial chip order from Tesla, valued at roughly $16.5 billion. The tech giant will collaborate with TSMC to co-manufacture Tesla's AI5 chips. In line with this, Samsung is expediting the development of its Taylor plant in the United States, with the goal of starting production concurrently with TSMC's Phoenix factory in Arizona. Elon Musk has indicated that prototypes of the AI5 chip are projected to debut in 2026, followed by full-scale production in 2027. The AI6 chip is slated to be produced on the same line, with its performance anticipated to double.
