The artificial intelligence company Anthropic has agreed to inform leading finance ministries and central banks around the world about cybersecurity vulnerabilities in the global financial system discovered by its latest AI model, Mythos. This arrangement was proposed by Andrew Bailey, Governor of the Bank of England and Chair of the Financial Stability Board, who hopes that Anthropic will brief members of the Board on the capabilities of its new Claude Mythos preview AI model. The Financial Stability Board is currently compiling a report on regulatory guidelines for the compliant use of artificial intelligence in the financial sector, with a draft planned for public release next month. The Mythos model has already identified thousands of high-risk security vulnerabilities across major operating systems and web browsers, posing potential risks to the global banking system. Currently, access to the model is limited to a select number of institutions, including Amazon, Microsoft, and JPMorgan Chase, for the purpose of identifying and fixing system vulnerabilities.
