Recently, OpenAI introduced its new cybersecurity model, GPT-5.4-Cyber, to US federal agencies, state governments, and 'Five Eyes' intelligence-sharing partners, aiming to encourage government departments to join its dedicated cybersecurity access program. During a closed-door event in Washington, OpenAI demonstrated the new model's capabilities to approximately 50 federal cybersecurity professionals and explained the access process and tiered management arrangements. GPT-5.4-Cyber is a fine-tuned version of GPT-5.4, specifically designed for cybersecurity defense. It supports advanced defensive workflows, such as binary reverse analysis, enabling the analysis of software vulnerabilities without access to source code. OpenAI stated that government agencies applying for access must undergo the same review process as commercial clients to join its 'Trusted Cybersecurity Access' program.
