Meta is set to broaden the application of its facial recognition technology across the UK, EU, and South Korea, aiming to tackle the issue of accounts that impersonate public figures. At present, this functionality has already been introduced on Facebook and is scheduled to be implemented on the Instagram platform over the next few months. Meta intends to enlist around 50,000 public figures for this initiative. By comparing their profile photos with images featured in suspected scam advertisements, the company hopes to effectively identify and thwart fraudulent activities.
