In a recent interview with BG2, Jensen Huang, the CEO of NVIDIA, disclosed that OpenAI approached NVIDIA for investment during its nascent phase. However, NVIDIA was unable to provide the necessary financial support at that time due to its own constrained budget. Huang candidly remarked, "We really should have thrown all our financial weight behind them."

Recently, NVIDIA unveiled its ambitious plan to pour up to $100 billion into OpenAI. The aim is to construct AI data centers boasting a minimum capacity of 10GW, all powered by NVIDIA's cutting-edge systems. This strategic partnership is geared towards expediting the rollout of OpenAI's next-generation AI infrastructure. Such infrastructure is crucial for training and operating OpenAI's upcoming models, propelling the advent of superintelligence.

The inaugural 1GW NVIDIA system is slated for deployment on the NVIDIA Vera Rubin platform in the latter half of 2026.
