Recently, Ali Quark, an AI application developed by Alibaba, introduced an "educational plan." However, some international students studying in China have encountered difficulties in completing identity authentication and accessing the associated benefits. The hashtag '#QuarkForgotAboutUs' quickly gained traction on social media, prompting Cambodia's State Secretary and Egyptian parliamentarians to advocate for equitable services for all students.
In response, Quark clarified that, in principle, international students in China are eligible to authenticate their identities through the China Higher Education Student Information (CHESI) network. However, it acknowledged that delays in updating student enrollment data at certain universities may lead to authentication failures. Quark advised affected international students to verify with their respective universities whether their information has been properly updated.
For Chinese students enrolled in overseas universities, Quark explained that authentication is currently unavailable due to the system's reliance on CHESI data. To address this gap, Quark has commenced the development of a new authentication channel specifically designed to cater to the needs of international and overseas Chinese students.
