In an article featured in New Security journal, Wang Jingtao, Deputy Director of the Central Leading Group Office for Cyberspace Affairs, emphasized that this year is pivotal as it not only concludes the "14th Five-Year Plan" but also lays the groundwork for the "15th Five-Year Plan," while serving as a crucial juncture for deepening reforms comprehensively. The landscape of cybersecurity is currently marked by a blend of opportunities and challenges, demanding heightened commitment and pragmatic strategies to modernize the national cybersecurity framework and capabilities, thereby elevating the cybersecurity sector to unprecedented levels.
To realize this vision, it becomes imperative to solidify a secure and reliable supply chain management system, with a keen focus on pivotal sectors such as integrated circuits, foundational software, artificial intelligence (AI), and quantum information. This involves bolstering collaborative innovation throughout the industrial chain and fostering breakthroughs in the research and development of core and critical technologies.
Furthermore, capitalizing on China's expansive market, there is a pressing need to champion the development of independent ecosystems, encompassing software ecosystems and open-source communities, and to drive substantial progress in the industrial application of technologies, notably AI.
Additionally, leveraging institutional frameworks like cybersecurity reviews and security evaluations of cloud computing services is essential to preempt cybersecurity threats and elevate the overall security posture of the supply chain.
