Rivian is set to invest $120 million in constructing a supplier park in Illinois, with the objective of cutting logistics costs and bolstering the production of its upcoming 2026 R2 SUV. This park will be seamlessly integrated with the main factory via underground tunnels, generating approximately 100 new job opportunities. Furthermore, Rivian has unveiled plans to expand its current factory by $1.5 billion. To foster the growth of the electric vehicle ecosystem, the State of Illinois is providing $16 million in incentives. Production of the R2 model is anticipated to commence at the Normal factory in the first six months of 2026, while construction at the Georgia factory will also resume, aimed at producing the R2 and future models.
