On April 16, the Government of the Bahamas announced a temporary suspension of SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket landings in the country, pending the completion of a comprehensive post-mission environmental assessment. Latrae Rahming, Director of Communications for the Bahamas, clarified that no additional landing permits would be issued until the results of this assessment have been thoroughly reviewed. Earlier this year, in February, SpaceX achieved a milestone by successfully landing a rocket in the Bahamas for the first time, prompting the government to greenlight 19 space exploration projects scheduled through 2025, subject to regulatory approvals.

However, last month, an incident involving SpaceX's Starship spacecraft marred this positive trajectory. The Starship exploded shortly after launch, with debris scattering into Bahamian airspace. While this event triggered a thorough post-launch investigation in the Bahamas, officials have confirmed that the Starship explosion is unconnected to the Falcon 9 landing plans. The government's decision underscores its commitment to ensuring the safety and environmental sustainability of space exploration activities within its borders.
