On April 11, news emerged from the China Automotive Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance, revealing that in March 2025, China's overall production of power and other batteries soared to 118.3GWh. This represents an 18% jump compared to the previous month and a robust 54.3% increase year-on-year. For the first quarter of the year, cumulative production hit 326.3GWh, signifying a significant 74.9% growth from the same period last year.
In terms of sales, March witnessed a total of 115.4GWh of power and other batteries being sold, marking a 28.3% monthly surge and a 64.9% annual increase. Specifically, power battery sales amounted to 87.5GWh, comprising 75.8% of total sales. This figure represents a 30.7% month-on-month increase and a 46.9% year-on-year growth. Sales of other battery types stood at 28GWh, accounting for 24.2% of total sales, with a monthly increase of 21% and a remarkable annual surge of 166.8%.
