This achievement solidifies BYD's position as the global sales champion in the pure electric vehicle segment, with notable growth across multiple international markets. Notably, BYD first overtook Tesla in global pure electric vehicle sales during the fourth quarter of 2024 and has now maintained this lead into the first quarter of 2025. Conversely, Tesla reported sales of 336,700 vehicles in the same period, experiencing a 13% year-on-year decline.
