Xingyu Co., Ltd., a prominent player in China’s automotive lighting sector, has faced setbacks in its pursuit of a Hong Kong listing following the controversial mass layoff of 107 newly hired graduates. Despite securing approval for overseas issuance and listing from the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC), the company has yet to receive a hearing date from the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX) more than three weeks later. The Listing Division has requested additional clarifications regarding the collective labor disputes, a move that could further delay the IPO process. This incident has triggered a series of crises, particularly concerning ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) compliance and overseas client relations. Major international clients, including Volkswagen and Mercedes-Benz, have launched special ESG audits to assess the company’s labor practices. Non-compliance in employment standards could jeopardize future orders and partnerships. Financially, Xingyu Co., Ltd. has demonstrated consistent growth in revenue and net profit in recent years, with substantial cash reserves. However, its workforce saw a sharp decline of 2,894 employees in 2025. In the first half of 2026, while revenue experienced a slight uptick, net profit attributable to shareholders (equivalent to net profit attributable to the parent company) declined year-on-year, signaling potential challenges ahead.
