Elon Musk stated that Tesla's inventory now holds only a few hundred units of the Model S and Model X, with production of new models halted and custom orders no longer being accepted. Currently, the few hundred factory-stock units remaining globally are selling out rapidly. After more than a decade on the market, these two inaugural flagship models are nearing the end of their lifecycle. The production halt aims to free up capacity at Tesla's Fremont factory for manufacturing the Optimus humanoid robot. Resources previously allocated to niche flagship models are now being redirected toward areas such as autonomous driving. Due to short-term inventory shortages, prices for the remaining vehicles have risen by approximately $15,000, with the final batch becoming collectible models. While the Model Y maintains steady sales, the Model S and Model X—representatives of Tesla's early era of high-performance luxury—will, once sold out, exist only in owners' garages, enthusiast forums, and automotive history.
