NVIDIA Reaches Settlement with Valeo Over Former Engineer's Leak of Autonomous Driving Trade Secrets

On December 18th, NVIDIA (NVDA.O) reached a settlement with a German subsidiary of the Valeo Group in a lawsuit concerning trade secrets related to autonomous driving technology. In 2021, a Valeo engineer joined NVIDIA while the two companies were collaborating on a technology project for Mercedes-Benz. According to a lawsuit filed by Valeo in 2023, during a video conference, Valeo employees noticed that the engineer's screen displayed Valeo's source code files and captured a screenshot before the window was closed. NVIDIA denied in earlier court filings that it used the stolen data to develop automatic parking assistance technology, stating that it had "rolled back" all of the engineer's work on the project and had dismissed the engineer.
