NIO has issued a "Notice Regarding the Technical Solution Update for the Rear-Seat Entertainment Expansion Feature in the New ES8" within its official community. Owing to the ongoing shortage of chip supplies, new ES8 models entering the final assembly line from December 22, 2025, onwards will implement a revised technical solution.
The rear-seat entertainment features in vehicles already delivered remain largely unaffected. The primary alteration is that USB-based local video playback and the ability to project the vehicle's screen onto an external display will no longer be supported.
To address this, NIO has introduced compensatory measures: Customers who confirm their orders and adopt the new technical solution by December 31, 2025 (inclusive), will receive 15,000 points as compensation. These points will be credited within three days following vehicle delivery.
Once the chip supply situation improves, should customers opt to revert to the original solution, a retrofitting fee of 12,000 points (equivalent to 1,200 yuan) will be applicable.
