The autonomous driving technology of Tesla, the Full Self-Driving (FSD), is now available in China, according to the latest announcement from the company.

This expansion to China is the latest step in Tesla's plans to make it available to many regions in the world, and this also marks the second Asian country to get the FSD technology after South Korea.

Tesla Brings FSD Technology to China

Tesla has shared a new post on X which details the expansion of the FSD autonomous technology to 10 countries, with the latest addition being China.

It has been seven years since Tesla opened Gigafactory Shanghai and began their EV production, but despite it being the source of most Tesla electric vehicles in Asia, it still lacked access to the proprietary self-driving technology.

Despite the FSD Supervised only being released in China, owners previously had access to the likes of Autopilot and Enhanced Autopilot.

The good news for Chinese Tesla owners is that they do not have to pay a monthly subscription fee to get the FSD on their eligible EVs as the Tesla China website shows that owners may get it for a one-time fee of 64,000 Yuan ($9,410).

It previously cost $8,000 in the United States for the upfront FSD purchase, but it is now purely subscription-based at $99 per month.

FSD Supervised Version in China

Tesla did not dive much into what the Full Self-Driving technology will deliver in China. However, similar to its other regions where it is available, this version is the Supervised one.

This means that drivers need to keep their attention on the road at all times and removing it will result in alerts popping up from the vehicle.

However, it is known that while the FSD Supervised in the US already allows "Text and Drive," it has not been confirmed if this is the same version that is coming to China.
