According to reports from Tom's Hardware, memory manufacturer V-Color has introduced its '1+1' DDR5 filler memory kits in the UK and European markets. Simultaneously, purely decorative 0GB fake memory modules have made their debut in North America. These innovative products are tailored for users operating on tight budgets who are unable to upgrade to high-capacity memory solutions. The fake memory modules are devoid of any internal storage chips and solely retain the RGB lighting effects. When inserted into the motherboard, they create a striking visual effect, giving the impression of fully occupied memory slots.
V-Color offers two distinct DDR5 product lines under its Manta brand: Manta XSky and Manta XFinity. The '1+1' kits, which consist of one real memory module and one fake memory module, are exclusively available in the Manta XSky model. These kits are currently sold only in the UK and Germany, with no immediate plans to enter the US market. On the other hand, the 0GB kits, which feature two fake modules, are available across multiple countries. Prices for these kits start at $43 and can go up to nearly $300.
In the UK market, retailer Overclockers has listed a 16GB 6000MT/s CL30 kit for £210, available in both black and white. This package includes one 16GB real memory module and one filler module. The higher-spec CL28 version is priced slightly higher at £219. In the European market, price comparison websites reveal only one in-stock option: a 16GB 6000MT/s CL28 black kit priced at €330. The CL30 version is available for €220, although it is currently out of stock at German retailer CaseKing.
In the North American market, the '1+1' kits are not available. However, the 0GB fake memory modules are readily accessible. The Manta XFinity model, sold on Amazon, is priced at $57, while the white version of the Manta XSky, available on Newegg, is priced at $44.
It is crucial to emphasize that the 0GB kits contain no genuine memory chips and are purely decorative items. They are only suitable for users whose systems already have functional memory and whose motherboards have two vacant slots. When powered on, the RGB lighting effects function as normal, and the appearance of these fake modules is almost indistinguishable from that of real memory modules.
