On September 4, Nikkei News cited a source as saying that Apple's daily production of foldable iPhones is initially limited to only a few hundred units, mainly because of Apple's stringent quality standards. A supply chain manager disclosed that Apple conducted an additional round of trial production before officially commencing manufacturing in August. However, the current rate of capacity expansion is sluggish. As of the end of August, the daily production volume still hovered around several hundred units, and this initial output may find it challenging to satisfy market demand. Previously, Apple had set an ambitious production target of 8 to 10 million foldable iPhones for this year, aiming to stimulate market demand and drive revenue growth through this innovative model. Nevertheless, if Apple fails to ramp up production swiftly, the final output may fall short of the target, and the time taken to meet consumer demand will also be extended. Industry executives noted that, according to the original production target, the foldable iPhone needs to achieve a daily production rate of tens of thousands of units.
