Recently, tech blogger Marques Brownlee posted a selfie comparison video that spans from the very first iPhone model to the cutting-edge iPhone 17, triggering a flurry of lively debates among netizens. A significant number of people are of the opinion that selfie quality has seen minimal improvements since the iPhone 4S era. They point out that the sensor's ability to process images during the daytime has reached a plateau approximately eight years ago. Taking selfies in bright light conditions often just serves as a way for the software to conceal the hardware's shortcomings. Nevertheless, the iPhone 17 series makes its grand entrance with a 1:1 square front-facing camera sensor. Although it hasn't brought about a substantial leap in traditional image quality, it does introduce a fresh way of shooting vertical photos that can be displayed horizontally, thereby boosting its practicality.
