The UK Cybersecurity Act, designed to safeguard children from accessing pornographic content, officially commenced on Friday. As reported by the BBC, approximately 6,000 pornographic websites have signaled their intention to abide by the law and initiate age verification processes for users. Nonetheless, as of Friday morning, at least one prominent website had yet to integrate age verification measures. The legislation mandates rigorous steps, such as facial recognition and credit card verification, to authenticate users' ages, with severe penalties imposed on those who fail to comply.
