On September 29, Long Teng, the Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology, stated at a press conference organized by the State Council Information Office that, throughout the implementation of the "15th Five-Year Plan," China is set to enhance its diversified investment framework. This will involve a steady augmentation of the central government's financial backing for basic research, coupled with a refined support strategy that harmonizes competitive and stable funding avenues.
Simultaneously, local governments are being incentivized to ramp up their contributions to basic research, tailored to their specific economic and social development requirements. Furthermore, there is a concerted effort to steer enterprises towards increasing their investment in this crucial sector. This will be facilitated by the introduction of pertinent tax incentives and the fortification of collaboration between the National Natural Science Foundation of China and businesses, achieved through the establishment of joint funds.
Moreover, the ministry is keen on fostering the involvement of social entities in basic research through diverse channels, including the creation of science funds and charitable donations. Concurrently, the ambit of financial policy support is earmarked for further expansion, ensuring a more robust and inclusive ecosystem for scientific exploration.
