According to Shaanxi Release, the Shaanxi Provincial Space Breeding Engineering Technology Research Center and the CAS Space Technology Group recently inked a cooperation agreement at Xi'an University. Their joint venture aims to establish a Space Biology and Space Mutagenesis Joint Laboratory and kick off the development of China's inaugural specialized satellite dedicated to commercial space-based plant breeding. This initiative signifies that seeds will now have a dedicated 'space vehicle' for conducting mutagenesis experiments. Once completed, the laboratory will make its experimental resources accessible to research institutions and breeding entities across the nation, thereby creating an innovative sharing platform for space-based plant breeding. This platform will foster collaborative development and application of talent and research projects, expedite the translation of scientific and technological advancements, bolster rural revitalization and the progress of modern agriculture, and ultimately contribute to the innovation of China's seed industry.
