Chip manufacturer Altera is gearing up to confidentially submit its application for an Initial Public Offering (IPO), with the possibility of finalizing the process as soon as this year and securing more than $2 billion in funds. Altera has appointed Barclays, Citigroup, JPMorgan Chase, and Morgan Stanley as the lead underwriters for this IPO endeavor. Established in 1983, Altera has gained recognition for its programmable chips, notably FPGAs, which are extensively utilized in artificial intelligence (AI), industrial automation, and various other sectors. In 2015, Altera was acquired by Intel, and last year, Silver Lake acquired a 51% controlling interest in the company. Nevertheless, Intel continues to hold a stake in Altera, and MGX also took part in the transaction. This IPO will not only facilitate Altera's autonomous operation but also offer a pathway for Silver Lake and Intel to capitalize on the value of their equity holdings. At present, the involved parties have either refrained from commenting or have not provided a response, and the ultimate specifics of the IPO remain subject to alteration.
