Memory-related stocks are witnessing a notable upswing, with SK Hynix surging over 5%, Seagate Technology climbing more than 4%, Western Digital and SanDisk both advancing over 2%, and Micron Technology seeing a rise of over 1%. KB Securities in South Korea has raised a red flag, cautioning that the scarcity of memory chips is on a relentless upward trajectory. Both Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix currently possess memory chip inventories sufficient for less than 10 days, signaling an impending significant supply shortage in the coming year. Projections indicate that by 2027, the demand for DRAM and NAND will outstrip supply by a margin exceeding 10 percentage points. Meanwhile, Apple is in talks with Kioxia to secure a long-term NAND flash memory contract spanning 3 to 5 years, potentially without any price ceiling, as it pivots its procurement approach from 'price pressure + multiple sources' to 'locked volume + long-term contract'.
