At the market's opening bell, the three major U.S. stock indices exhibited a mixed performance landscape. The Dow Jones Industrial Average saw a decline of 0.74%, while the S&P 500 Index experienced a marginal dip of 0.08%. In contrast, the Nasdaq Index bucked the trend, posting a modest gain of 0.10%.

Among individual stocks, several notable performances stood out. Qualcomm, Intel, Oracle, and Bloom Energy all witnessed surges exceeding 5%. Qualcomm's jump was fueled by its collaboration with Amazon to construct AI data centers. Intel's rise came on the heels of plans to hike PC CPU prices. Oracle's stock soared to a new high since late June, and Bloom Energy benefited from its inclusion in the S&P 500 Index. Additionally, Quantinuum's shares climbed over 4% after securing a substantial USD 100 million R&D grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce.

On the downside, Novartis faced a significant setback, with its stock price plummeting over 12%. This marked the pharmaceutical giant's third clinical trial disappointment within a single week, casting a shadow over its recent performance.
