On the 2nd of this month, Shojiro Fujiwara, the head of ASML's Japanese division, announced that ASML, the renowned Dutch semiconductor equipment manufacturer, intends to expand its workforce in Japan. The company aims to boost its employee numbers from the current 500 to around 700 by 2030. Projections indicate that ASML's sales in Japan will surge to €1.2 billion by 2025, reflecting a significant year-on-year increase of approximately 40%. Japan holds a pivotal position for ASML, serving as a key market for sales, technological innovation, and supply chain support. Presently, Japan's semiconductor production capacity is on a steady upward trajectory. ASML's Chitose office, which was set up to serve partners such as Rapidus, is increasing its staff from 25 to 50. Additionally, the company is contemplating further business expansion in southern Kumamoto Prefecture, underscoring its long-term commitment to the Japanese market.
