DeepSeek is set to deploy a minimum of 160,000 Huawei Ascend 910B acceleration chips on a large scale within its large-scale data center currently under construction in Ulanqab, specifically targeting inference operations. On the training front, DeepSeek still predominantly relies on NVIDIA products. This strategic move is regarded as a pragmatic approach to progressively advance the localization of computing power. Following the successful completion of approximately RMB 50 billion in financing in June 2026, DeepSeek has embarked on a new round of fundraising, with infrastructure expansion identified as a key area of investment. It is plausible that this chip deployment initiative is linked to this broader investment strategy. As of now, neither DeepSeek nor Huawei has issued a public statement regarding this development.
