Micron Technology Inc. stated that the shortage of memory chips has intensified over the past quarter, and it anticipates that the tight supply will persist beyond this year. This situation stems from a surge in demand for high-end semiconductors driven by AI infrastructure construction. Manish Bhatia, Micron's Executive Vice President of Operations, remarked after the groundbreaking ceremony at the company's production base in New York State last Friday that the current level of shortage is unprecedented. He pointed out that high-bandwidth memory required for manufacturing AI accelerators has consumed a significant portion of the industry's production capacity, leading to severe shortages in traditional sectors such as mobile phones and personal computers.
