On December 22, reports surfaced indicating that Wingtech Technology and the head of Nexperia Netherlands conducted their inaugural round of discussions the previous week. During these talks, both parties articulated and clarified their respective apprehensions, reaching a consensus to sustain ongoing dialogue. The Chinese delegation has urged involved companies to participate in consultations focused on control rights and the revitalization of the supply chain, with the aim of effectively reinstating the global semiconductor production and supply chain.
The crux of the Nexperia issue stems from undue administrative interference by the Dutch government in corporate affairs. Echoing an ancient Chinese proverb, "The one who ties the bell must untie it," it is imperative for the Dutch government to take immediate action. To fully alleviate global enterprises' anxieties regarding chip shortages, the Dutch authorities should promptly rescind the pertinent administrative directives. They should encourage former Nexperia Netherlands executives to withdraw their legal action from the Enterprise Chamber, thereby paving the way for constructive corporate negotiations. Swift resumption of chip supplies to both Chinese and international automakers is crucial. Such measures will significantly contribute to the security and stability of the global semiconductor production and supply chain.
