This afternoon, Qualcomm made an official announcement introducing the fifth-generation Snapdragon 8. This new processor is equipped with a custom-built Qualcomm Oryon CPU, which boasts a maximum clock speed of 3.8GHz. The CPU adopts a 2+6 all-big-core design, consisting of 2 super-large cores operating at 3.8GHz and 6 performance cores running at 3.32GHz. When compared to the third-generation Snapdragon 8, this processor delivers a remarkable 35% increase in single-thread CPU performance and a substantial 36% improvement in multi-thread performance. Additionally, it achieves a significant 42% reduction in power consumption. The GPU incorporates an innovative sliced architecture, resulting in an 11% enhancement in graphics performance and a notable 28% decrease in power consumption. During real-world gaming tests, running Genshin Impact at ultra-high settings and 60fps, the processor maintained an average frame rate of 60.39fps over a 30-minute period, while consuming 16% less power than its competitors.
